The Sand Filter operates on the depth filtration principle, where water is evenly distributed across the top of the sand bed and flows downward through multiple layers of sand and gravel. As the water passes through the filter media, suspended solids and impurities are trapped within the pores of the sand particles.
Clean water then exits through the bottom collector system and is stored or sent for further treatment. When the filter becomes clogged with accumulated dirt, a backwashing process is initiated — water is reversed upward through the filter, loosening and removing trapped particles, and flushing them out of the system.
This simple yet highly effective mechanism ensures consistent filtration performance, long service life, and easy operation.
