A Filter Press is a highly efficient and
reliable equipment designed for solid-liquid separation processes in a wide
range of industrial and environmental applications. It works on the principle
of pressure filtration, where a slurry containing solids and liquids is pumped
into the press, and the liquid is forced through filter cloths under pressure,
leaving behind solid cakes. The Indian
Carbon FILTER PRESS is engineered with precision to deliver
exceptional performance, durability, and ease of operation, making it an
indispensable solution for industries that demand efficient filtration and
dewatering.
The FILTER PRESS is
widely recognized for its ability to produce dry filter cakes and clear
filtrate. It provides an economical and effective method for separating
suspended solids from liquids in industrial effluents, process streams, and
wastewater. The system consists of a series of filter plates and frames (or
recessed plates) arranged alternately to form a number of chambers. These
chambers are covered with filter cloths that serve as the filtration medium.
The slurry is fed into the chambers under pressure, and the liquid passes
through the cloths while the solids are trapped, forming compact filter cakes.
The working of a
filter press is based on a simple but powerful concept — pressure filtration. When slurry is
pumped into the press, the filter plates are tightly clamped together by a
hydraulic mechanism. As pressure builds, the liquid component of the slurry
(filtrate) passes through the filter cloth and exits via discharge ports, while
the solid particles are retained inside the chambers. After filtration, the
plates are opened, and the solid cakes are discharged either manually or
automatically. This process can be repeated for continuous operation.
Indian Carbon’s FILTER
PRESS is available in both manual,
semi-automatic, and fully automatic models, offering
flexibility for small-scale operations as well as large industrial plants. The
high-quality construction ensures consistent performance even under demanding
conditions.

The FILTER PRESS operates under variable
pressure conditions, typically ranging between 4 to 16 bar, depending on the type of slurry and desired
dryness of the cake. The filtration cycle time varies based on the solid
concentration and particle size distribution of the feed. The filtration area
can range from 1 m² to 200 m² or more,
depending on model and configuration. Each unit is fitted with a hydraulic
closing mechanism and high-quality filter cloths made from polyester,
polypropylene, or nylon, ensuring superior performance and long service life.
Membrane-type filter
presses are also available, offering higher dewatering efficiency by applying
an additional squeezing pressure after filtration. This results in lower
residual moisture in the filter cake and increased production output.

Regular inspection of
the hydraulic system, filter cloth, and plate alignment ensures long-lasting
performance. The filter cloths should be cleaned periodically to maintain
permeability and prevent clogging. Lubrication of mechanical parts and proper
washing after each cycle improves durability and operational reliability.
Indian Carbon’s FILTER
PRESS supports sustainable operations by minimizing waste generation and
promoting water recycling. The dry filter cake produced can often be reused or
disposed of safely, reducing environmental impact. All materials used are
non-toxic and conform to safety and environmental standards.
The Indian Carbon FILTER PRESS stands as abenchmark for efficient, durable, and environmentally friendly solid-liquid
separation technology. Whether used in water treatment plants, industrial
effluent treatment, or process industries, it ensures high performance, low
operational costs, and maximum reliability. With its robust design,
customizable options, and proven efficiency, the FILTER PRESS remains a trusted
choice for industries seeking dependable filtration and dewatering solutions.
